Transit Waiting Environments

The CUDC conducted a study for the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) to look at bus stops throughout the RTA system and develop ideas for enhancements appropriate to a variety of contexts and levels of use. Working with the RTA and EcoCity Cleveland, the CUDC created a GIS database of all the stops in the system, categorized according to level of use. Through online surveys and research conducted by Cleveland State University, the CUDC collected information about user preferences and concerns.

From this information, the CUDC put together design concepts showing enhancements for each of the five levels of bus stops. These were shown to RTA and to focus groups of the municipal officials who would ultimately be responsible for implementing them.
